We headed west mid January for our favorite rodeo of the year. It’s hard to beat in the beautiful Monument Summit Arena with a top notch crew. Rodeo Rapid City was nothing short of amazing. All the laughs and the time together, make all the hard work and long days extra special
I think for 2023 we are working to surpass what it is we have already done. Keeping our eye on the prize but willing to take some chances and switch up. At Rodeo Rapid City, I am the Sutton Rodeo Office Manager. I am honored they have brought me on the crew and it has given me a different perspective to all things production of an event of its caliber. My time is limited with Clay but I was so proud of him for rolling with some of his new ideas for this rodeo. He has his own space here; it makes it a lot easier to create on site. He has been wanting to do some portrait work and I think what he accomplished is incredible (biased obviously). I love the locker room feel and it definitely feels “behind the scenes” for sure.
Another first this year: the first ever official poster for Rodeo Rapid City! I think they turned out wonderful and have a unique, vintage feel. The artist that created it fit the vibe perfect and the poster itself was designed by Steve Grey, fellow PRCA and NFR photographer, and Clay. We still have some available [add to cart].
The crew never gets old and if you’ve been here for awhile you know my take on all of it. Nothing better than spending two weeks with some of the best people a girl could ask for. Most days I need to pinch myself of the life we get to live. They push us to be better, they push us right out of our comfort zone (hello, Clay and I eat sushi now!), and they aren’t friends anymore, they family!
If you’ve never taken it in, get Rodeo Rapid City 2024 on your schedule: January 26 - February 3, 2024. You will not be disappointed!
Stay tuned for details about Rodeo Grand Island. Wrapping our winter run and then home for awhile will be nice. However we won’t know how to act and when we are back it, there will be no end in sight; just the way we like it!
